Vishay Intertechnology's new +110°C rated family of optocouplers are claimed to be the first devices in standard plastic packaging to achieve an operating temperature range from -55 up to +110°C. They are designed to provide safe, optical connections between circuits in a wide range of systems; from AC adapters, power supplies, PLCs, and industrial automation, to game consoles and PCs. Their higher temperature specifications allow the construction of smaller, lighter products by eliminating the need to maintain a lower temperature on the optocoupler. Designers thus have a better-performing alternative to +85°C-rated devices and a lower-cost alternative to ceramic optocouplers. In addition, the new optocoupler family provides a broad range of current transfer ratio (CTR) values.
