Wireless module distributor goes from strength to strength

7 April 2004 News

Trinity Telecomms is the South African distributor of Wavecom's GSM/GPRS modules and modems as well as wireless connectivity solutions based on these modules. These products are distributed from offices based in Fourways, Sandton. Trinity covers a variety of markets in its operation: vehicle tracking and fleet management, telemetry, security and voice markets.

In its seven years of existence, Trinity Telecomms has been awarded Wavecom's 'best distributor of the year' award for three consecutive years. It attributes this to its constant global strive for creating and maintaining a sound customer relationship where the norm is a continuous atmosphere of customer satisfaction. This is achieved through a combination of providing the best and most competitive wireless technology available to date, combined with an excellent sales and support service structure.

The company takes pride in its role as 'Technology Partner' - materialising ideas, designs and products that incorporate Wavecom's wireless solutions. With this, it says, each individual's application can be treated with the required level of respect it deserves. Trinity Telecomms therefore forms the gateway to Wavecom with its excellent range of products and services.

Wavecom is a French-based company, fiercely competing in the international GSM market since 1993. Manufacturing consists of two plants that supply its worldwide distributors. The head office is based in Paris and is home to R&D, commercial and technical divisions. Wavecom says its strength is in its focused approach and it is clearly displayed through its achievements not only financially but also through innovative and market-leading designs and approaches.

The best examples of these are probably the Muse or Open AT application approach which allows customers to cost-effectively embed any kind of application within the module itself, eliminating the need for components and board design, allowing for extra space.

Wavecom's products are based on WISMO technology (for 'wireless standard modules') and come in various interface and carrier technology options. Regarding the South African market in particular, GSM/GPRS modules and modems form the core of Wavecom's wireless solutions offered. CDMA technology is also available to help expand customer applications to lucrative overseas markets like the US and China, for instance. The products offered for these various network solutions share the same form factor, which is an ingenious design approach. This eliminates the complete redesign of existing applications, with which to explore these market options.

As Wavecom's leading distributor, the company says it takes pride in its excellent technical know-how that is backed by a team of results-driven individuals. The team thrives in offering quality service and building lasting, relationships with customers.
