Proximity sensors

24 March 2004 Electronics Technology

Omron's E2A family of inductive proximity sensors housed in metal cylinders are available in a range of standard sizes (M8, M12, M18 and M30) with long and short-barrelled versions available as both pre-wired and plug-in types. They have as standard a double distance sensing capability, (ie, M12 flush mounting has a 4 mm sensing distance, non-flush has a 8 mm sensing distance). This feature helps to protect against mechanical damage from moving parts, whilst allowing for very reliable sensing even with a build up of contamination on the sensing face.

All E2A sensors are designed to handle temperature conditions ranging from -40 to +70°C. They also conform to IEC IP67 standards. These features make the sensors ideal for use in diverse applications such as automotive manufacturing, packaging process machines and material handling.
