Dranetz-BMI products can now be upgraded in the field
24 March 2004
Test & Measurement
Spescom MeasureGraph has introduced updated DranView software that can be used with the existing and new Dranetz-BMI power quality analysers.
The PX5, PX5-400 and 4400 can be easily and reliably upgraded in the field without help from the factory. The user simply downloads the firmware file from the Dranetz-BMI website and copies it to their Compact Flash data card. After inserting the CF card in the instrument it automatically detects the file and installs the new firmware the next time it is turned on. All of the new instruments use the same firmware file so there is no chance of confusing instruments.
PowerGuide 4400 power quality analyser
This three-phase, eight-channel power-monitoring instrument is said to be the only advanced power-monitoring instrument to incorporate a colour touch screen into its lightweight design. Automated set-ups provide instant detection of circuits and configurations, ensuring that the instrument is ready to successfully collect data. Users can select the length and mode of data collection, including troubleshooting, data logging, power quality surveys, energy and load balancing. The PowerGuide collects data at 256 samples/cycle/channel, offers remote communications using RS232, Ethernet or USB options, and meets IEEE 1159, IEC 61000-4-30 and EN50160 standards.
PowerXplorer
With foolproof set-ups, eight independent channels and optional high-speed digitised sampling (658-like), Dranetz-BMI's 3-phase power monitoring instrument is ideal for everyday monitoring tasks such as troubleshooting, power quality surveys, demand/energy studies and long-term data logging, as well as tough applications including generator and UPS commissioning/testing, breaker testing, 400 Hz systems, DC applications, and motor start-up and health. The PowerXplorer is the only power-monitoring instrument that features a colour touch screen, remote communications and complies with the newest IEC standards.
The firmware update for these two products can be found at www.dranetz-bmi.com. A short procedure is posted on the website describing the process in detail.
