Automotive thermal printers smaller and faster

Thermal printers have become commonplace within the automotive industry, creating high expectations from customers, who are looking for smaller, light-weight, faster and easy-to-work models. With all these aspects in mind, Fujitsu Components launched a new 50 mm, battery driven system, with an 'easy loading mechanism'.
The FTP-628MCL103 is compact, at 15,5 (h) x 33 (d) x 70,2 mm (w), which makes it ideal for automotive solutions such as inside a bus, train and taxi. Its high temperature range makes this model highly suited for applications like taximeters, digital tachographs, and weight measurement reporting and ticketing systems.
As not all the automotive applications for thermal printers are actually in the interior of the vehicle, sometimes a 24-volt printer is more suitable. In this case Fujitsu Components recommends the FTP-609 family. This printer can print at 200 mm per second. With its small size, high operating temperature (up to 70°C) and the easy loading mechanism with cutter option, the Fujitsu 609 family is suited for applications such as parking and ticketing machines.
A completely different example of thermal printers in automotive applications is the integration of thermal printers onto trucks. While loading and unloading fluids or other non-boxed items the driver can measure and print out the quantities delivered or collected. The printers support a variety of alphanumeric, international and special characters as well as all standard bar codes formats.
