Failure of a keyboard can be a disaster for PC systems that require keyboard input. For example, on a rainy day, an outdoor kiosk system that requires the user to input via keyboard can stop working if the keyboard is damaged by water. Keyboards that are robust and waterproof become important for applications like this. ICP Electronics' KM-086 combines conventional keyboard and mouse into one unit, yet it is waterproof and meets IP68 standard.
This purpose-built 86-key keyboard can resist spills from drink, splash of water from outdoor environment, and even rain. The KM-086 is a true keyboard, and not a membrane-type keyboard, which can be difficult to type long text. LEDs are embedded with each key that allows for typing even in dark environments. The unique integrated pointing device functions as a mouse and is a replacement for touch pads.
The keyboard measures 303,7(W) x 168,7(D) x 37,8 mm (H) and has a standard PS-II 6 pin connector.
