Compact power for Compact PCI

5 November 2003 Power Electronics / Power Management

Designed to meet the requirements of Compact PCI, using hot-swappable N+1 redundancy power systems, the new RTC AC/DC and DC/DC switching power supplies from XP offer power ratings of 150, 200 and 400 W.

Full power is delivered with only 30 CFM forced-air cooling at 50° C ambient with 150 and 200 W units in a 3U format and the 400 W version in 6U. The power supplies conform to PICMG 2.11 standards and DC input versions accept a 48 V d.c. input, meeting the requirements of most telecommunications systems.

The outputs are 3,3, 5 V d.c. and ±12 V d.c with typical line and load regulation of ±2% and maximum peak-to-peak ripple and noise of 1%.

RTC power supplies have integral input transient protection, inrush current limiting, output over-voltage and over-current protection. They also feature AC good, DC good, remote sense, single wire parallel and remote on/off control functions.

All models are approved to UL1950, CSA950/234 and EN60950. They also meet EN55022 Level A emission standards. Shock and vibration is to MIL-STD-810D.

In addition to telecom applications, the RTC series is suitable for redundant industrial computing and control systems, digital voice recording systems and broadcast equipment.
