Stainless steel inductive sensors are rugged

Balluff's new SteelFace sensors are designed to survive longer in environments where mechanical damage is an issue. Unlike many industrial sensor designs, Balluff's SteelFace sensors are machined from a single piece of solid stainless steel, resulting in a sensor with a 1 mm thick steel face that is extremely impact and abrasion-resistant. Additionally, the one-piece design has superior chemical and cutting fluid resistance characteristics.

Replacing mechanically-damaged sensors is time consuming and costly. The extra-rugged construction of the SteelFace sensors reduces this. Although some metal-faced sensors sacrifice sensing range for increased durability, Balluff's SteelFace sensors achieve the same sensing range as the company's standard proximity sensors.

Ferrous and nonferrous detection models are available, and in 8, 12, 18 and 30 mm housing sizes. In addition to IP67 rating, the sensing face withstands 500 psi dynamic pressure.
