Frost & Sullivan opens office in South Africa

7 March 2007 News

Global growth consulting company Frost & Sullivan has broadened its global presence by opening a new office in Cape Town. The office will serve the sub-Saharan African region.

Frost & Sullivan director of operations for Africa, Phil Howarth, says that the opening of the South Africa office is part of Frost & Sullivan's determination to extend its global network. It will also ensure that Frost & Sullivan's clients enjoy a truly global perspective of the markets in which they compete.

"Our new office in South Africa is further indication of the investment we are making on a global basis for our clients," says Howarth. "In addition to supporting our globalisation effort, this office will provide local research and consulting capabilities across our core markets of expertise. This will assist local and international clients to improve their strategic decision making on the African continent."

Frost & Sullivan has seen a dramatic uptake in new business opportunities throughout South Africa and Africa in the past few years. Building a presence in this market confirms the firm's continued dedication to developing a team of consultants and research analysts who are global experts.

Howarth believes that one area that continues to show enormous potential for growth in the African market is mobile communications. Recent research conducted by Frost & Sullivan found that the African telecommunications sector is likely to continue to experience major growth rates as new subscribers are signed up and mobile operators introduce new services. Although there are certain factors such as conflict that do make investment in the industry a bit risky, it is still one of the most lucrative and exciting industries in which to be involved.

"Africa's mobile telecommunications sector is booming as the demand for communications increases," notes Frost & Sullivan research analyst Lindsey McDonald. "In such a competitive industry, operators need to ensure that they maintain high levels of service and keep their products cost effective."

Analysts in the South African office will be focusing on six key areas, namely: Automation and Electronics, Information and Communication Technologies; Energy and Power; Environment and Building Technologies; Chemicals, Materials and Food; and Healthcare.
