Electrocomp enters into cooperation agreement with European component distributor

21 February 2007 News

Electrocomp has announced that the company has entered into a high level cooperation agreement with Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente, the third largest broadline distributor of electronic and electromechanical components in Europe.

Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente can point to over 30 years' success in this dynamic growth market of active, passive and electromechanical components. Customers include European companies from high-tech industries that are operating in different sectors such as automotive, consumer and telecommunications. In addition to its extensive array of products, it also offers all-round service, supporting customer logistics needs with customised supply chain management solutions.

Rutronik has a staff complement of nearly 1200 throughout Europe, and sales of over 535 million Euro in fiscal year 2006. Already leading in a number of specific market sectors, it says that its single aim is the success of its clients, achieving this with new products, innovative solutions and tailor-made services.

"Changing markets call for new solutions," says Helmut Rudel, founder and owner of Rutronik. "With a service portfolio extending far beyond the area of just distribution, we have emerged as a major trendsetter and a source of first-class innovation. Indeed, we have established ourselves as a key interface between manufacturers and customers. To succeed at this level, it is essential that we always remain one step ahead of the game, that we identify new trends as they begin to take shape and that we define new benchmarks in service provision. We call this approach intelligent distribution."

"First-class availability and on-time delivery are two additional milestones of our success," he adds. "In essence, intelligent distribution is about creating a finely tuned service. Only by achieving this balance can one deliver added value on all fronts: more products, more solutions, more service and more profitability."

Says Glynn Watkins, managing director of Electrocomp: "Electrocomp having already established itself as the largest independent distributor of active, passive and electromechanical components in the South African market, will further strengthen our supply position as a direct result of the cooperation with Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente.

"In essence this agreement allows fast and efficient access to 150 franchised product groups within Rutronik covering active, passive and electromechanical components," adds Watkins. "Direct access into the Rutronik computer system will enable us to give our customers fast and accurate answers on stock availability and pricing information allowing us to streamline our operation and become even more efficient.

"I would like to stress that we view this cooperation agreement with Rutronik as an important vehicle in our drive to further streamline our operation and to provide more efficient and tailored solutions to our customers," he concludes.
