MMI (Munich Trade Fairs International), the organiser of electronica 2006, has announced final details for this year's event.
It will be staged at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre from 14-17 November. The Fair (www.electronica.de) will occupy a total of 152 000 m² across 14 exhibition halls and the organisers expect more than 75 000 visitors and more than 3000 exhibitors.
At electronica 2004, a sharp increase in both international exhibitors and visitors was reported, accounting for some 44% on the side of visitors and 57% for exhibitors. According to Klaus Dittrich, managing director of MMI, electronica 2006 looks set to continue this growth. "I believe electronica is the only electronics Fair to genuinely offer the visitor the very latest developments in every sector of the industry. At no other Fair, for example, can visitors see such a concentration of semiconductor manufacturers, power supply companies and interconnection specialists, not to mention displays manufacturers, test and measurement companies and the leading suppliers in every other sector. In addition to this, we have special areas devoted to emerging technologies and key applications."
Key application areas
One of the main attractions will be the exhibition areas devoted to the key application areas: Automotive Innovation, Wireless Communications, Embedded Systems and MicroNanoWorld. These specialist areas combine exhibits alongside a platform for speaker presentations to provide visitors with a clear insight into the latest developments into their chosen area of interest.
New for electronica 2006 is MicroNanoWorld, an exhibition area specifically for microtechnology. It will show new micro- and nano-technologies and will present among others applications from the areas of MEMS sensors, RF-MEMS/wireless, optical MEMS, bio MEMS, NMEMS, packaging for MEMS and Microsystems. Sensor technology and servo-technology and drive elements, which are closely linked to micro-technology, will also be located here.
The Embedded Systems exhibition has been expanded for this year's electronica. The organiser has recognised that software plays an ever-increasing role and exhibitors will be placing particular emphasis on the presentation of their versatile software solutions. Other exhibitors will be covering risk management, quality, re-usability of hardware/software IP, and outsourcing strategies in the development process. The Embedded Systems exhibition is to be staged in the same hall as the Automotive Application Area - one of the industry's largest users of embedded technology.
The Embedded Conference Munich, held on 14-15 November in the adjacent conference centre, will offer a congress programme aimed directly at embedded developers. The main topics are: Embedded software engineering, Embedded test and verification, Small embedded systems (8 and 16 bit) and Complex embedded systems.
