Channel partnerships ensure Philips' success

"Four years ago Philips identified South Africa as a key emerging market for semiconductors. To capitalise on this market we appointed dedicated personnel and four distributors. These parties ensured that our existing customers enjoyed a smooth transition, while drawing in new clients," comments Guilliot.
Acknowledging the importance of partnership, Vic Ritson, general manager of Philips Semiconductors says: "Our distribution support programmes are continually evolving to ensure that these companies have the support they need to penetrate new markets and develop potential sales opportunities. Philips endeavours to be more than a prime supplier, we seek true partnerships based on a complete understanding of our customers and their markets."
He adds that the security and manufacturing industries have been driving local semiconductor demand. "Security and industrial applications have always demanded innovative semiconductor designs, however, new applications, such as set-top boxes and a growing need for silicon have also aided us in establishing a sustainable market locally."
In an ever-consolidating marketplace, Philips has established itself as a solid partner and innovative manufacturer that provides products designed around the needs of its client base.
"Semiconductors has yet again become a key focus for local operations and we know that the channel forms the basis for our success," concludes Ritson.
