EPP project 2003-2006: Export promotion programme for electronic components and systems
12 March 2003
News
CBI, a Netherlands governmental organisation which helps companies in developing countries achieve sustainable exports to Europe, is starting an export promotion programme in South Africa for electronic components and systems.
The EPP project 2003-2006 programme's key objective is to support and guide selected producers of electronic components and systems to penetrate the rapidly-growing European markets in specified product groups. A free 'kick-off' workshop has been organised for 25 March 2003 in Gauteng for representatives of companies that may be interested.
The product groups include:
* Semiconductors.
* Embedded systems.
* Sensors and microsystems.
* PCBs and other bare boards.
* Electromechanical components and connector technology.
* Passive components.
* Displays.
* Power supplies.
* Assemblies and sub-systems.
* ED/EDA.
* Test and measurement.
The topics to be covered in the kick-off workshop are: what/who is CBI; introduction to the EPP project 2003-2006 and its phases; market and marketing information on the European market; and a general discussion and Q&A session. After lunch, individual company discussions will follow.
To be eligible for selection for the export promotion programme, companies should be ready for the international market and be willing to invest in training of personnel and improvement in production, design and marketing in order to meet European market requirements. Also, they must: not have a joint-venture relation with a company from an industrialised country; not already have regular exports to The Netherlands or have a representative or agent in Europe, covering The Netherlands market; and not have more than 500 employees.
South African companies that are interested in this programme should respond as soon as possible as only 30 delegates can be accommodated. Note that workshops are not planned for Durban and Cape Town unless there is an overwhelming demand.
Technews, publishers of Dataweek, SA Instrumention & Control and Hi-Tech Security Solutions magazines, in cooperation with ADEC and Reed Exhibitions, are arranging the workshop.
