No-coil transformer inventor seeks partners
8 May 2002
News
Intellitronics AG, a research and investment company based in St. Margrethen, Switzerland, has announced that after several years in R&D it has produced a transformer that does not have any coiled elements. It claims that the first measurements and calculations of the prototypes indicate that the production costs as well as sizes of such transformers can be reduced by up to 70% compared to transformers that have windings.
These transformers have precise output performances and a significantly reduced weight compared to conventional transformers. The company believes that the size, cost and performance of these board level components will set new standards in consumer electronics as well as for telecom, automotive, and the flat panel display industries. Other applications are in computers and networking, test and measurement, military, and medical equipment.
Intellitronics is currently seeking companies that it can ally with to help further develop and distribute the products on the worldwide market. Due to patent proceedings more details on the new development were not immediately available at time of printing.
