New electronics design house launched in KZN
4 July 2001
News
Natcom Electronics is an electronics design house for outsourced projects in the security, communication and industrial markets. The company provides solutions ranging from concept definition to production engineering. The company says its customers are able to make use of any of the individual development stages such as SMD multilayer PCB layout or medium-batch assembly and testing.
Natcom Electronics was launched in 2000 by a group of military communication engineers who saw the need for a dynamic pool of skilled resources able to design custom projects in the commercial sector. While its core business is embedded software and electronic modules, current customer requirements include high-voltage generators and RF telemetry.
Based in Durban, the company says that it has found encouraging local demand for their skills. As it is well-accustomed to the logistic issues of remote development, Natcom also maintains a significant customer base in the Midrand region.
To broaden its expertise, while ensuring lower overheads, Natcom Electronics makes use of an established network of reliable and experienced subcontractors. This reduces the cost to customers since specialists are only utilised when required. According to the company, the edge that it adds to contracting is its readiness to take system responsibility for its projects. The continuity of service that is maintained over the project lifecycle is a significant risk-reducing element for its customers, it says.
