DTI minister to address Manufacturing Indaba

News
This year’s Manufacturing Indaba has secured a major draw card as it has been announced that minister of trade and industry, Dr Rob Davies, will make an address on the first day of the event.
Set for 29 and 30 June, the second annual edition of the Indaba will once again be held at Emperors Palace in Ekurhuleni on Johannesburg’s East Rand. A partnership between the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Manufacturing Circle, the City of Ekurhuleni and Deloitte, the event is officially endorsed by the Association of Representatives for the Electronics Industry (AREI).
With the aim of bringing together South Africa’s manufacturing stakeholders from both public and private sectors, the event will give delegates the opportunity to network with the role players that are part of government’s revitalisation and re-industrialisation plans for the region. Minister Davies will brief the audience on the DTI’s strategic objective to facilitate transformation of the economy through the promotion of industrial development, investment, competitiveness and employment creation.
The conference programme will include plenary sessions as well as breakaway debate sessions to encourage active participation. Some of the major topics to be addressed will be the challenges and opportunities facing the South African manufacturing sector in the next five years; localisation as a global trend; opportunities for growth in the small business manufacturing environment; incentives to ensure foreign investment; access to finance for the SA manufacturing sector; and strategies for growth and competitive advantage.
