Gaia Converter announced the launch of the MGDI-204 wide-input series of DC-DC power modules. These are designed for use in a distributed power architecture where variable input voltage and transients are prevalent, making them ideal for high-end industrial applications. The first of these, the MGDSI-204-H-E, is a quarter-brick with 9 – 36 V input, 12 V output at 200 W, and the ability to absorb a 40 V transient for 100 ms.
All the modules are designed with LC network filters to minimise reflected input current ripple and output voltage ripple. The modules have totally independent security functions including input under-voltage lockout, output over-voltage protection, output current limitation protection, and temperature protection. A soft-start function allows current limitation and eliminates inrush current during startup.
The modules are potted with a bi-component thermally conductive compound and use an insulated metallic substrate to ensure optimum power dissipation under harsh environmental conditions.
