Pocket-sized thermal imaging camera

29 April 2015 Test & Measurement

The FLIR C2 is a pocket-sized thermal imaging camera with a 3” touch screen. Similar in size to a cellphone, the device features a wide angle lens and auto orientation, and provides brilliant image clarity thanks to proprietary MSX multi-spectral imaging.

The built-in LED spotlight can be used as a flashlight and for photo illumination. The fully radiometric images allows measurement at any point on the image in post analysis on scenes between -10°C to 150°C, and offers streaming video via FLIR Tools reporting software. The package includes FLIR Tools for Mac or PC, and comes with a warranty covering parts and labour for two years and the detector for 10 years.

The focus free camera uses an uncooled microbolometer to produce a 41° x 31° field of view with a focal distance of 1,54 mm and a spatial resolution of 11 mrad. The image frequency is 9 Hz and displays 320 x 240 pixels in digital colour, although the digital camera is 640 x 480 pixels. Image presentation can be selected in the infrared, visual image or MSX mode, with an option to be used as a gallery display.

This C2 has a spotmeter giving immediate temperature readout, and allows the images to be displayed in the typical iron, rainbow, rainbow HC or grey scales, with additional options for languages, time and date formats. The memory is sufficient to store in excess of 500 sets of images, while the lithium-ion polymer battery powers the device for two hours of use.
