Now available for MEC’s Multimec 5G switches is a range of round and square caps that provide the switches with diversity of visual appearances.
New 30 mm diameter round caps comprise the 10R with a slightly curved top, 10Rf with a flat top and sharper edges, and 10Rm with a metal plate with illuminated legend and 1 mm rim. The square caps – 10Q and 10QM – measure 22 mm a side and come with either a flat top, or a metal plate with illuminated legend and 1 mm rim, respectively.
The caps come with optional spacers and sealing. The need for a spacer is dependent on the front panel thickness and the design of the application. In case of harsher environments, the sealing provides an opportunity of having the front panel sealed to IP67. The caps are all designed to be flush with the front panel to give a neat and aesthetic look to the application. They have a low building height of 11 mm and activation functions no matter where on the cap pressure is applied.
Both series also provide many design options for illumination – full, reverse printed and metal legend – however, in order to ensure even illumination, LEDs on PCBs are required, making it easy to customise the front panel design. There are eight standard colours, seven of which are solid colours and the last which is frosted white for illumination. In addition, ten standard legends are available for metal plates as well as positive and negative pad print.
The switches themselves can handle 10 million operations and come in three standard actuation forces – 2 N, 3,5 N and 6,5 N – as well as a 2 N quiet version. Their contacts have a resistance lower than 30 m and are rated to 50 mA and 24 V d.c.
