Rugged, portable oscilloscopes

17 September 2014 Test & Measurement

Fluke has introduced high-performance portable oscilloscopes with two or four independently-insulated input channels, an IP51 dust and drip waterproof rating, and a CAT III 1000 V/CAT IV 600 V safety rating. Users can choose from models with 500 MHz, 200 MHz, 100 MHz or 60 MHz bandwidth. Built to handle the harsh conditions of industrial electronics, the two-channel instruments integrate a 5000 count digital multimeter (DMM).

The 190 Series II features floating isolated inputs, up to 1000 V and real-time sampling at up to 5 GSps (depending on model and channels used). Other highlights include frequency spectrum analysis using FFT, automatic capture and replay of 100 screens, as well as a deep memory of 10 000 points per trace waveform capture.

The oscilloscopes are complemented by a software suite encompassing Connect-and-View triggering for intelligent, automatic triggering on fast, slow and even complex signals; ScopeRecord Roll mode giving 30 000 points per input channel for low-frequency signal analysis; and TrendPlot paperless recorder mode with deep memory for long-term automatic measurements.

The 190 Series II boasts an impressive seven hours of battery operation as well as an easy-access door for quick battery swaps in the field. The isolated USB host port allows for direct data storage to a USB memory device. The instruments are compact, weighing in at only 2,2 kg, and feature a security slot to lock the oscilloscope down with a Kensington lock while unattended.
