XP Power announced the SDL400 series of 400 Watt single- and dual-output AC-DC power supplies. These compact units, suitable for 1U applications, are available in four mechanical formats: U channel, U channel with cover (-C option), top fan cover (-F option) and end fan cover (-E option). All formats apart from the top fan mounted version are less than 39,9 mm high.
A variable speed fan is used to reduce audible noise at lower load conditions and extend fan life in the –E and –F models. For applications without a fan or forced air flow, the units can operate with convection cooling up to 220 W for the single-output models.
With a peak power output of up to 700 W for up to 0,5 seconds, the SDL400 is ideal for applications that might have a higher power demand for short duration loads such as starting up a motor. This capability saves designers from having to specify a larger, more expensive power supply to satisfy this requirement.
Single-output models are available with the popular nominal outputs between +12 and +48 V d.c., as well as both a +54 and +60 V d.c. output variant. Dual-output models have a +5 V d.c. output in combination with a +12, +24 or +48 V d.c. or a +12/+24 V d.c. model. The output voltage V1 can be manually trimmed ±5% with the dual’s V2 output tracking by the same percentage of adjustment.
The SDL400 series has an operating temperature range from 0°C to +50°C, and with derating up to +70°C. Over-voltage, overload and short circuit protection are standard features. Additionally, all models have remote on/off, power good and fan fail signals. The units meet EN55022 class B conducted and radiated emissions. Safety agency approvals are per UL 60950-1, CSA 22.2 No. 60950-1 and EN 60950-1 standards.
A low leakage current option (500 μA) is available by adding –L to the part number.
