Schroff designed its modular europacPRO product platform to cover a wide range of possible applications with only a few components.
The intelligent design of the system results in simple and fast management in assembly and components.
Customers can either rely on simple assembly with europacPRO kits or design custom configurations. Delivered in space-saving flat packs, the kits are simply unpacked and bolted together. The threaded inserts or EMC sealing (depending on the kit) are already pre-mounted on the horizontal rail. For custom configurations, the customer designs their subrack as desired and receives it fully assembled with Scroff’s ServicePLUS assembly service. Schroff can also carry out individual modifications and cut-outs, and can do so in a limited time frame with ServicePLUS express.
There are horizontal rails for two load-carrying classes, ‘light’ (load up to approximately 7,5 kg) and ‘heavy’ (load > 7,5 kg). Light horizontal rails are designed for optimised airflow, while the robust version has lateral 2-hole fixing. Consecutive numbering on the horizontal rail (>28 HP) serves to provide easy positioning of the guide rails. By means of ESD clips, a conductive connection between horizontal rail (subrack) and PCB is created.
Side panels are available for three different applications:
* Light, low-cost version with integrated 19” mounting bracket (type L, unshielded).
* Flexible type with separate 19” mounting bracket (type F, shielded).
* Heavy-duty variant with integrated (Tox-cold welded) 19” mounting bracket for extreme mechanical loads (type H, shielded), eg, for applications with high shock and vibration.
Guide rails are offered in plastic and aluminium profiles. Guide rails form the interface between the subrack mechanics and the subassemblies (PCBs, plug-in units, frame-type plug-in units, plug-in drive units ...). Robust snap-in fixings on the plastic rails ensure steadiness, even when vibration occurs. With H-type horizontal rails, the guide rails can additionally be bolted on. For extreme stresses, guide rails in aluminium profile may be used. The continuous numbering on the horizontal rail (from 28 HP) and the marking on the guide rails facilitate quick fitting in the correct position.
The europacPRO platform offers a variety of off-the-shelf solutions to achieve electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and to avoid electrostatic discharges (ESD). The shielding to the front of the subrack is achieved by EMC stainless steel or textile gaskets. An all-round contact guarantees complete shielding. To avoid electrostatic discharges when inserting PCBs, ESD contacts are clipped into the guide rails. These establish a conductive connection between PCB and subrack-earth.
According to IEC 60297-3-101 two ESD areas are defined on the euroboard. The ESD clips on the guide rails of the europacPRO subrack allow the assembly of the following variants:
* ESD area (to bottom and top) via the complete board height.
* ESD area (to bottom/top) starts at the front from 70 mm up to the board’s end).
