Mornsun has released the new K78xx-500R3 series of high-efficiency switching regulators, touted as an ideal substitute for LM78xx series three-terminal linear regulators, with pin-out compatibility.
The converters feature high efficiency of up to 95%, low loss, short circuit protection, positive or negative output voltage and there is no need for a heatsink, saving cost on the bills of material. They are non-isolated and available in 3,3 V, 5 V, -5 V, 9 V, 12 V, -12 V, 15 V and -15 V d.c. outputs. The units use a standard SIP package for easy integration.
The K78xx-500R3 series has an operating temperature of -40⁰C to +85⁰C and an MTBF (mean time before failure) of around 2 million hours, making them very reliable. The parts are widely used in applications such as industrial control, instrumentation and electrical power, where they can be used in positive output applications, negative output applications and even dual positive and negative applications.
