EE Times has reported that Altium was recently voted the most popular provider of PCB layout tools, in a poll asking readers to vote for the company providing the best printed circuit board layout EDA tools.
Altium scored 30% of the vote, ahead of Mentor Graphics with 23%, Cadence with 17% and Zuken with 13%. The remaining 17% of the votes were for other suppliers.
These results contrast strongly with market share figures recently released by consultancy group Gary Smith EDA, which suggested that Mentor has 43% of the market, Cadence 28%, Zuken 13% and Altium only 8%, with the remaining 8% shared amongst other vendors.
