Microchip implements Intel security tech for IoT

12 August 2015 Telecoms, Datacoms, Wireless, IoT News

Microchip Technology announced a collaboration with Intel to implement Intel Enhanced Privacy ID (EPID) technology into its products. EPID is a sophisticated, proven approach to device authentication that provides both security and privacy for the on-ramp to the Internet of Things (IoT). At the recent Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco, attendees visiting Intel’s IoT Community exhibit had a chance to view a demonstration of the protocol running on Microchip’s IoT security platform.

By utilising this technology, Microchip’s customers can maintain end-to-end security and privacy in their IoT products and services, which helps them to protect data from device to cloud, minimises unauthorised access of endpoints and gateways, and aims to promote a common security framework for IoT platforms.
