Kontron débuted two new embedded motherboards built on the second generation Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processors – the Flex-ATX embedded motherboard KTQ67/Flex and the Mini-ITX embedded motherboard KTQM67/mITX.
The boards offer a broad performance range with up to 3,8 GHz and a maximum of 32 GB DDR3 RAM. For the design of the peripheral interfaces, the KTQ67/Flex integrates the Q67 controller hub. Connections for video include two x DisplayPort, one x VGA and LVDS. For expansion cards it features one x PCI Express x16 and two x PCI slots. The KTQM67/mITX is based on the Intel QM67 controller hub and executes two x DisplayPort and one x DVI. Expansion slots include one x PCI Express x16 and one x PCI Express x1. In addition, it has both an ATX power supply and a typical industrial 12 V d.c. input.
Common features of both boards are 14x USB 2.0 and three x GbE-LAN with Intel AMT 7.0 support for extensive peripheral and networking options. Numerous storage media can be connected via the six x SATA interfaces (four x SATA150/300 and two x SATA600) with RAID 0/1/5/10 functionality and the mSATA (mini-SATA) socket for state-of-the-art onboard SSD. HD audio and a Trusted Platform Module 1.2 for safety-related applications top off the feature set of the new motherboards.
Operating system support is provided for Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows Embedded Standard 7, VxWorks, as well as Linux (Red Hat Enterprise, Novell SuSE Linux Enterprise, Red Flag Linux and Wind River Linux, among others).
With their integrated Intel Turbo Boost technology 2.0 and Intel Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX), the boards provide the fast floating point operations and vectorial calculations required by imaging processes in industrial automation, medical and military applications. In addition, the integrated Intel HD graphics aid graphics-intensive applications such as digital signage, infotainment and gaming. Even multiscreen applications with simultaneous presentation of two separate HD videos or innovative 3D BluRay applications are possible, without additional components.
