A new development from BittWare, the GX-AMC (GXAM) is the company's inaugural FPGA-only board based on Altera’s line of high-density, high-end FPGAs.
This advanced mezzanine card (AdvancedMC) uses the Altera Stratix II GX FPGA to provide high flexibility, ideal for the development and deployment of a variety of systems, including wireless infrastructure. Every AMC port aside from port 0 is connected to the Stratix II GX FPGA and BittWare's ATLANTiS framework, allowing designers to determine exactly how to route the I/O, with a variety of protocols supported on 11 SerDes ports and eight LVDS ports. To extend the inherent flexibility of AMC, the GXAM includes a front panel mezzanine site with 76 LVDS pairs and four SerDes ports, further enabling designers to adapt the GXAM to their complex and changing requirements.
Altera's Stratix II GX FPGA, at the heart of the GXAM, has been specifically designed for serial I/O-based applications providing up to 20 full-duplex high-performance, multigigabit transceivers supporting PCI Express, XAUI, Gigibit Ethernet, Serial RapidIO, SerialLite II and other standards. Containing up to 132 540 equivalent LEs, over 6,7 Mbits of RAM, 63 DSP blocks, and eight PLLs, the Stratix II GX FPGA facilitates all off-board I/O while also providing communications routing and processing.
Efficient routing is achieved using BittWare's ATLANTiS framework, which tightly integrates the I/O peripherals and the FPGA, and allows any combination of serial ports and off-board I/O interfaces to be routed together, providing nearly infinite options for configuring the I/O.
BittWare offers a complete suite of development tools to make developing and debugging applications for the GXAM easy and efficient. These software tools provide host interface libraries, a wide variety of diagnostic utilities and configuration tools, and debug tools. This tool set is comprised of BittWare's DSP21k Toolkit, DSP21k Porting Kit, and BittWare Target.
