BIAS Consultants: thin-clients are the future

29 November 2006 Computer/Embedded Technology Information Security

BIAS Consultants is a multivendor service and repair enterprise founded in 2000 that specialises in specific product maintenance solutions for the ATM and point-of-sale (PoS) industry in South Africa as well as other neighbouring countries.

With extensive experience in banking and retail technologies, the company says that it understands the importance of service-delivery in these particular areas and that this enables it to assist organisations to achieve excellent service level agreements by offering quick turn-around times and quality workmanship.

Even though BIAS Consultant's primary service is in ATM/POS repairs and refurbishment, it also offers 'thin-client' solutions, believing that these low-cost, yet very reliable thin-clients are the future in retail network and banking systems. These thin-client computing devices can be used for a variety of applications; they are secure and cost effective, with a small footprint and low energy consumption. With a failure rate claimed to be less than 1%, it says that this German-engineered product is ideal for the African market.

BIAS Consultant's retail POS products range includes card readers, cash drawers, scanners, printers and various touch-screen technologies. For the banking industry its product line includes, cheque readers and imagers, card encoders, pinpads, as well as complete ATMs.

Currently, BIAS offers a carry-in service centre on all refurbishments and repairs for customers outside the PWV area, but a national on-site-support service is on the table and may be available as early as mid 2007.

BIAS has the passion to listen to customers and share their vision, and being versatile it can adapt to the ever-changing technologies of electronics. Its vision statement reflects this fact in striving to be 'the most approachable and sought-after value-add support and design firm.' Its mission is to provide, develop and service the electronic retail and banking industry in Africa by rendering cost-effective solutions and products according to customer requirements.
