Electrocomp Group plans to expand further

2 April 2008 News

Electrocomp celebrated 28 years in business on 3 January 2008. The company has grown in stature from its original beginnings as Philips and Siemens distributors and today boasts a staff complement in excess of 170 members. The company currently incorporates niche distributors CST Electronics and more recently Vepac Electronics, as well as Transtronics and Fairbridge Technologies.

The company's strategy has continuously evolved in order to meet ever-increasing demand from the market, and today Electrocomp's main focus is on demand creation and end to end solutions, which is supported by 15 qualified hardware and software engineers countrywide. The company's engineering offering includes hardware and software design support, as well as complete design solutions from concept to production handover.

Electrocomp recently extended its service offering with the establishment of its own APN for wireless GPRS solutions in the M2M market and further developments in the wireless module and GSM arena are planned during 2008 in conjunction with partner, Siemens Wireless Modules.

Transtronics, the value-added arm of the Electrocomp group, will further extend its current product scope of discrete wire harness solutions and ferrite choke and transformer winding, with the addition of an RF cable assembly plant and testing facility during the second quarter of 2008. This will enable Electrocomp to offer its clientele a more comprehensive solution to their wireless needs.

Fairbridge Technologies distributes a full range of products catering for temperature, humidity and other monitoring solutions. The company has over the past few years focused on cold chain information and initially developed the ClimaStats Software Solution as an entry level system that has grown to suit the South African cold chain environment. Its services have now extended to a local DataBase and a WebService based application, resulting in quick turn-around preventative actions. The locally developed ClimStats Software Solution has assisted customers in satisfying their HACCP (hazards analysis and critical control points) and ISO (International Standards Organisation) temperature and humidity monitoring requirements, and has recently been ranked amongst the best software solutions in the world for cold chain management by Dallas Semiconductor.

As one of the largest independent distributors in the South African market, Electrocomp attributes its success and growth to extensive stock holding throughout its branches in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria, linked to a high level of service. The group of companies expects to continue this level of commitment into the future, adding new products, services and the recruitment of more qualified engineers, enabling it to serve its clients ever more efficiently.
