Advantech's PCI-1680U is a 2-port universal PCI communication card with optical isolation protection of 1000 V d.c. The PCI-1680U offers a cost-effective solution for the connectivity of the controller area network (CAN) to the PC, claims the company.
The card can operate two separate CAN networks at the same time as both the onboard CAN controllers can be run independently. With its built-in CAN controllers, the PCI-1680U provides bus arbitration and error detection with an automatic transmission repeat function. This reduces the chance of data loss and ensures system reliability. Onboard optical isolators protect the PC and equipment against damage from ground loops, which also ensures system reliability in harsh environments.
PCI-1680U is assigned a memory address, the simplest method of integrating a board with a PC. Since the host PC treats the board as a standard RAM, the board provides quick access by a host PC, reducing CPU loading.
The PCI-1680U is available for Windows 95/98/2000/XP, with full support for drivers. Complementing its product lines of CAN and CANopen interface cards in various form factors, such as PCL-841(ISA), PCM-3680(PC/104) and Fieldbus AD-CIF series, Advantech's PCI-1680U meets customers' demands for cost-effective PCI universal data transmissions.
