Entry-level PC/104 CPU module

3 May 2006 Computer/Embedded Technology

The PCM-3341 is an entry-level PC/104 CPU module designed for industrial control, vehicular systems, and applications where space consideration and adaptable I/O configurations are required.

Available from ProMicro, the PCM-3341 provides as many features as CPU boards several times its size, according to the company. The single integrated CPU and chipset allow this PC/104 module to pack more features onboard. The low power fanless STPC Atlas CPU integrates a standard x86 core along with a powerful UMA graphics/video chipset, support logic including ISA, Local Bus, USB, and EIDE controllers, plus 32/64 MB of onboard SDRAM, providing a PC compatible subsystem on a single chip.

Its dual output display support enables LCD, and CRT devices up to a maximum of 1280 x 1024 resolution. Self-stacking PC/104 modules allow multiple modules to be simply added to the system. Numerous standard ISA add on cards are available utilising the PC/104 sockets, which helps speed development time and reduce costs. PCM-3341 has four COM ports, a CompactFlash slot Type I socket, two USB 1,1 compliant ports, and GPIO, and supports all the popular embedded OS. A watchdog timer and 10/100Mbps Ethernet are also provided.

The PCM-3341, on a 96 x 90 mm unit, has all the necessary features required and expansion capability, says the company, making it ideal for applications where space is limited and multiple I/O and flexible display configurations are required.
