Emulation support for embedded PowerPC

January 2001

iSYSTEM has announced support for 32 bit Embedded PowerPC cores from Motorola.
The newly introduced iCARDs interface to the target on-chip firmware via JTAG or BDM and support 5 V down to 1,8 V technology. Two different iCards are currently available which support PPC5xx and PPC8xx or PPC6xx and PPC7xx families. Internal and external Flash can be programmed via JTAG/BDM interface. Additionally, fast monitor Flash programming is available for internal and external Flash. 2 KB monitor can reside anywhere in the RAM memory.
The two iCARDs can be plugged into compact iC3000 Active Emulator and powerful iC4000 Emulator. Standard RS232, LPT (iC4000 only), USB and Ethernet interfaces are available.
All iSYSTEM's emulators are driven by the easy-to-use winIDEA, an integrated development environment. winIDEA runs on Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows 95/98 operating systems. Beside a powerful debugger, winIDEA includes project manager and build manager where DiabData, Metrowerks(Hiware) and Tasking compilers can be integrated, thus allowing to write, download, debug and edit user's code from a single user's interface.
