Applications' orientation for electronica 2006 being well received

While it is true that applications have played a role at electronica for a long time now, this is the first year that electronica – the trade show for electronics technologies – is officially emphasising this fact so strongly with the key words 'components, systems and applications' as its tagline.
According to the organisers, the concept calls for the event to focus not only on components and systems, but also on applications for electronics and is enjoying very broad support within the industry. For the exhibition areas electronica automotive, electronica embedded, electronica wireless and electronica MicroNanoWorld, electronica 2006 - to be held 14 November in Munich - is already recording larger numbers of exhibitors than for the previous event.
For the high-growth fields of application, electronica is offering clusters within the trade show halls. The most innovative companies in the fields of automotive electronics, wireless communications, as well as micro- and nanotechnology, for instance, will each be meeting in their own exhibition areas along with a topic-oriented platform for speaker presentations.
The trade show's 'applications' emphasis is not the only factor contributing to this positive trend. The end of the consolidation phases in individual market segments and the market upswing that is beginning to take shape in these sectors, are also making a considerable contribution. Examples here would be the exhibition segments for PCB design and production as well as the area for casing technology, which has been expanded to include the topic of ESD.
